Millennium
All along the beaches, I feel a tremble of the soundings
And in every snaking coastline, the entire universe
From the wild Serengeti, to a tundra of a prison
The templed hills of Thailand, to an unborn poet’s verse
An invisible conductor, waiting for the last thousand
A millennial sound-check, another century bides
And on the edge of every shoreline, as the people start to gather
Feel the rumble of deliverance, as the morning is supplied
Here’s a song for a new millennium
Here’s a song for a new millennium
To create a new cathedral, with a solid stone of justice
A strong, silent switchboard, and a mirrored wall reminding
Where anyone who listens, can hear the booming bell of freedom
And from anywhere they’re standing, can speak the truth inside
Where a call to bring all arms, are for the carriage of accordance
The elevation of purpose, the dilution of bounds
For in sacred assembly, not a soul be unchosen
Not a dream be postponed, not a voice be unfound
Here’s a song for a new millennium
Here’s a song for a new millennium
What I really really want
All along the beaches I hear a tremble of the soundings
And on every lonely corner, the entire geograph
From the faded painted desert, to a wet New York City
From any peaceful reeled-in memory, to all the ones who didn’t have
So the world has come to gather, with new hope and benediction
To let the heart be on fire, let the heat be a song
Let the song be a wave, let the wave be the answer
And let the answer be sung, all millennium long
Here’s a song for a new millennium
Here’s a song for a new millennium
